When I went to set up my profile on here, I was kind of blown away by all the other sites it would let you connect to. I'd honestly completely forgot some of them existed. Even more strange was the fact that they were still technically still alive and kicking. I mean, not any of my friendslists, just the fact that the site wasn't shuttered decades ago.
ICQ is still technically around, but it seems to be mostly a Russian site now, sort of like Livejournal. Last.fm is still around, although my last log in was somewhere around 2018 when I left Texas and got a new phone and phone number.
And Plurk. Holy crap Plurk. Came out around the same time as Twitter but never really went anywhere as far as I could tell. But uff da did I enjoy my time there when I was using it. Of course, the Internet hadn't become entirely souless yet back then. That may have had something to do with it.
I wonder what other early Internet phenomena I can find. Can I download a version of Winamp 2 that will run on current systems? Can I download music off of Audiogalaxy?
Ooh! I can break out Radio Garden. That's like combining Google Earth with Shoutcast.
